Hide SMPlayer Status Bar

to make the window look simpler.. we can make by running smplayer in minigui. use this command to accomplish what we need.

smplayer -minigui %U

to make this update to the file options open a video file > right click on it > choose properties > choose: edit file type "icon" > in "Application preference order" choose SMPlayer > click Edit.

from the "application" tab add -minigui options so that it will become like this :
smplayer -minigui %U

and then click OK 3x... that's it..

now enjoy SMPlayer with simple gui.. ;-)

Making Dolphin Like Explorer File Manager

dolphin is another file manager brought to linux kde window manager user. when moving to linux from windows for the first time we may feel unusual. there is a time when we want to have an interaction like what we have in windows. so this is the way it is, making dolphin file manager like explorer file manager. even though it's not a complete change you may try it some how.

how to make the file view in icon list view
- go to menu Settings > Configure Dolphin
- choose view modes > icons > Text width: Huge > Arrangement: Columns > Grid spacing: Small
- click OK to see the result.

OpenSuSE 11.2 - KWin

KWin (red: kawin)... nama yang unik untuk sebuah aplikasi desktop baru di opensuse 11.2. dengan aplikasi ini dimungkinkan untuk desktop kde memiliki efek 3d seperti layaknya compiz dan xgl, tentunya juga vista.

secara default aplikasi ini telah terinstall di opensuse 11.2 apabila driver vga nya kompatibel maka fasilitas 3d default milik opensuse ini sudah bisa dinikmati dengan mengaktifkan efek 3d-nya di Personal Settings > Desktop > Desktop Effects.

semangat trus buat yang menggunakan linux dan program opensource lainnya...
